No big deal but…

February 10, 2020 By Chris Murphy 6 Comments

It’s not a big deal to colorblindguys, but we can not easily read certain color combinations. The worst is red on black. I’ve seen the Biden sign a couple of times (at a podium and lawn signs) and read it as Bid n. I was able to figure it out especially when he was speaking at the podium with the sign just below him. So I’ve added given the red “E” a stoke to allow us to read it immediately-and I think that’s the point. I’m aware it’s not artistically great but I can read it. Is it supposed to resemble a flag?

I added another example below.

Had no idea that there was a heading for the items on the right.

Moldy Bread Studio

Lights, Camera, Mold!

As a colorblindguy, I’ve been informed that I’ve eaten moldy bread multiple times. I’ve never had any negative consequences from it though. I thought I’d conduct an experiment. The image shows a behind the scenes look at project “moldy bread”. I’ve created a moldy bread studio–keeping the light source and position of the bread fixed. If successful, I hope to have a series of images that will allow a person at what point the bread looks moldy to them.

Feel free to create your own colorblindguy experiment and I will share the results.

UPDATE (2/16):
I wasn’t satisfied with the lighting of the bread images so I’m going to “try, try again”.

Colorblindguy.com college football bowl game?

January 8, 2020 By Chris Murphy 10 Comments

It’s college football season now and I’m hoping to sponsor the colorblindguy.com bowl game for next year. As a challenge, players on both teams will wear the same uniforms. It will not be played by the teams with the best records but the best coaching. No numbers, or names allowed. Players will be allowed to use creative ways to indicate which team they are on–sounds, running with hands in the air etc..
It’s like when John Lennon would play chess with all pieces being the same color. When I coached my son, I could not distinguish between my blue team and the opposing purple team. Some may know about the game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets that created viewing problems for colorblind people. #colorblindguy  #colorblind
